“The Story” began on September 14th. Our journey together is for 31 weeks as we work through the greatest story ever told. It is the story of God’s love for the crown of His creation, that is us. Through September, we covered the creation account, the call of Abraham and the settling of God’s chosen nation in Egypt. Joseph was God’s instrument to provide for this nation as it grew, and to care for it for over four hundred years until it was time to move His plan forward.
October offers God’s people at Messiah an opportunity to see how God will move them forward to the Promised Land. October 5th, we will see how God delivers his people from Egypt. On October 12th, we will explore establishing a covenant with His people by giving them the Law. On October 19th, we see how sin affects God’s promise, so the chosen people will wander for forty years. Yet, in their wandering, God provides for them, just as He promised. Through these weeks, we will explore various texts in Exodus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. Then, on Reformation Sunday, October 26th, we will explore a new beginning as Joshua is called by God to move them into the Promised Land. An appropriate text for Reformation Sunday, as we remember how God preserved the truths of Scripture through His servant Martin Luther, as he wanted to debate reforms in the church, not create a new church, yet the truths of God’s Word shined forth.
Remember that we are posting devotions for you to use each week, there are study guides posted to explore the reading for that week. We pray God is blessing your small groups, your family time and your individual time in seeing how God’s story and our story come together. You can go to http://www.mlcslongmont.org and we will be making posts to assist you along the journey as we explore, together, God’s Story.
